Translating Scientific Terminology: Examples from the Arabic versions of Two International Magazines
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the strategies used in translating scientific terminology. It is an attempt to explore how scientific English terms are translated in the Arabic versions of two international magazines; namely, the famous Scientific American (Arabic Edition) and Nature (Arabic Edition). The evidence provided by these magazines is expected to explain to what extent semantic and communicative translation is crucial in rendering scientific terms into Arabic. It also classifies the different types of semantic translation.Downloads
