The Experiences of Adult Learning Centre Educators in Implementing Outcomes-Based Assessment
Abstract
The move from the old curriculum to an outcomes-based education, presented educators with challenges. In outcomes-based education there are learning outcomes that should be attained and educators had to change the way in which they were used to assess their learners. Given the challenges that are associated with outcomes-based assessment, it is important to find out how these challenges are addressed. The main research question is: What are Adult Learning Centre educators’ experiences in implementing outcomes-based assessment? A qualitative research paradigm was followed in this study to collect data through interviews and observations. Purposive sampling was used to select information- rich -informants. The sampling involved schools from different socio-economic backgrounds. Data analysis involved identifying similarities and presenting a discussion of the research. Informants’ consent was requested for the interviews.Downloads
