Purpose: The study examines the role of community education skill acquisition programmes in reducing unemployment among youths in Cross River State. Design/Methodology/Approach: A survey consisting of 60 items was developed, validated, and administered to 500 unemployed youths in Cross River State. The survey aimed to gather their perception towards the effectiveness of community education skill acquisition programmes on unemployment reduction. Findings: The results indicate the moderate impact of these programmes, indicating a moderate level of effectiveness. The mean score for males is higher than the mean score for females, indicating that male respondents perceive the programmes to have a greater impact on unemployment reduction compared to their female counterparts. Conclusion: While the programmes have shown some positive outcomes, the study also reveals several challenges and constraints faced by the programme participants, including accessibility issues, skill-job mismatch, inadequate support and limited stakeholder engagement. Research Limitations and Implications: The reliance on self-reported data and limited generalizability to other contexts suggests the need for further research to explore the effectiveness of community education skill acquisition programmes in different settings for identifying best practices in implementation. Practical Implications: Community education skill acquisition programmes should be designed and implemented in a way that addresses the specific needs of unemployed youths and involves stakeholders in the process to increase programme effectiveness. Contributions to Literature: Community education skill acquisition programmes can only play a more significant role in reducing unemployment and promoting sustainable employment opportunities for youths if and when constraints are addressed strengthened with stakeholder engagement.
