This paper provides an overview of disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) among Albanian youth, highlighting the unique challenges and experiences faced by this population. Given the increasing awareness and diagnosis of ASD globally, this study focuses on the Albanian context to explore the prevalence, societal perceptions, and support systems available for young individuals with disabilities, particularly those on the autism spectrum. Utilizing a combination of literature review and statistical data the paper examines the current state of ASD diagnosis and intervention in Albania. It identifies key barriers such as limited resources, lack of specialized services, and social stigma that impact the quality of life and integration of affected youth. The findings underscore the need for enhanced policies, increased funding for support services, and greater public awareness to address these challenges effectively. This overview aims to contribute to the broader understanding of ASD in Albania and to inform future initiatives aimed at improving the lives of young people with disabilities in the region.
