This study assessed undergraduate students' self-directed learning readiness (SDLR) levels with a case study in Vietnam. The study employed a quantitative method, using an SDLR survey questionnaire. The questionnaires were administered to 1222 undergraduate students at six higher education institutions. The data was analyzed using SPSS 26.0 with descriptive statistics, a T-test, and ANOVA to determine the SDLR level and the difference in gender, primary, and academic year. The research results showed that students reported an SDLR score of 157.15. The findings also revealed that there was no difference by gender and training major in terms of SDLR level. It showed that different years of education possessed different degrees of SDLR (attitude to learning, control in knowledge, confidence and independence in learning, and self-concept in learning). The research would provide suggestions for students, educators, and curriculum designers in Vietnam's curriculum development, teaching, and learning.
