Comparison of Organizational Social Capital in the College of Humanities Sciences and College of Social Sciences and Behavioral Sciences of the Tehran University
Abstract
This study compared social capital in organizations in the college of Humanities Science and college Social Science
and Behavioral Sciences, of Tehran University. This study relied upon a descriptive methodology, using survey as the
instrument. The statistical population in this study consisted of(N=315) college Staff. Out of this number, a sample of 221 (n
=221) people were selected based on the stratified random sampling procedure and complete census.The instrument was a
researcher-made questionnaire of social capital in organizations the reliability after a pre-test confirming a Cronbach alpha
coefficient (0/9744). For the purpose of data analysis, descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean and standard
deviation), and inferential statistics (ANOVA, t-test ,Tukey test,Kolmogrov– Smirnov test) were calculated using the software
SPSS for Windows (ver. 16). To achieve the research objectives, five research questions were formulated. The findings of this
study indicate that college of Humanities Sciences of social capital in organizations and dimensions is higher mean than of the
College of Behavioral Sciences and Social Sciences. In addition the staff most important factor in creating and maintaining social
capital in organizations expressed management factors. Finally, using the results of the study was to provide strategies to
promote social capital in organizations at Tehran University.
