The study aimed to assess the extent to which academic leaders at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU) recognize the importance of self-management as a means to enhance the university's administrative performance and to identify the primary obstacles hindering its implementation. To achieve these objectives, the study adopted a descriptive survey approach, utilizing a questionnaire as the primary data collection tool. The study population comprised all academic leaders at the university, totaling 205 individuals. A comprehensive survey method was employed, and the findings revealed that academic leaders at IAU highly valued the importance of self-management as a factor in improving administrative performance, with an overall mean score of 4.42. Among the dimensions of self-management, self-censorship ranked first, followed by administrative independence, while participation in decision-making ranked last. One of the most significant obstacles to implementing self-management, as perceived by academic leaders, was "the difficulty of achieving financial independence due to the university's lack of self-generated resources," with a mean score of 3.50.
