Abstract

Virtuality in education has led to numerous technological advances and online learning opportunities, but it has also given rise to several problems and challenges; in this context, the purpose of this study was to explore the effects of virtuality on the education process as a social phenomenon; using the qualitative approach of phenomenological-hermeneutic design, students and teachers from a higher technical educational institution were interviewed. The findings of this research provide elements of judgment that will help to understand the virtual education system, using educational psychology as a pillar. Thus, they contribute to the development of educational models and the formulation of educational policies. It is concluded that there are problems in the virtual learning experience, such as lack of financial resources, economic influence and social limitations, emotional support, development of adaptation skills, and the search for both economic and social resources; these aspects are key to helping overcome the challenges faced in virtual education.
